We are living in uncertain, bizarre times. Just in these couple of weeks we’ve seen our “normal life” turn upside down. Businesses closed, individuals losing their jobs and what we’ve come to understanding is that friction and frustration are inevitable living under such a crisis. Everyday we are faced with instructions on how to “carry on”. Rules and measures that need to be followed to stay safe, stay apart and most importantly wash your hands.

Even though we’ve seen instructions and we are over loaded with either professional or amateur design on how to “wash hands”, the specific duration of the whole hand washing process that we must adhere too, the public still can’t grasp their head around what really soap does to the virus. There are a couple of articles that describe what soap does to the virus, but there are not many designs to support those articles. The design problem was to make people fully understand the structure of the virus, the soap, and even though people typically think of soap as gentle and soothing, but from the perspective of microorganisms, it is often extremely destructive. I’ve illustrated and tried to break down to simple science to understand both the structure of the virus and the soap. Further more the illustrations show exactly how washing hands with soap and water is an effective way to destroy and dislodge many microbes including the corona virus.

From these illustration designs people can get informed and understand the process of hand washing without being confused with big scientific words. The designs are aimed to be shown in social media since during quarantine people were using social media, and scrolling through them quite more than the usual this way they would stumble upon the informative illustrations. Unfortunately the design has still not been tested in the social media to see how the people will react towards it.
